Martin Kießling wurde 1985 in Franken geboren. Nach Abitur und Zivildienst absolvierte er in München mehrere Praktika bei TV- & Filmproduktionen sowie eine Ausbildung zum Mediengestalter Bild und Ton. Es folgte ein Studium an der Fakultät Design der Georg-Simon-Ohm-Hochschule Nürnberg mit dem Schwerpunkt Film & Animation, das er 2014 erfolgreich abschloss. Fiktionale Filmprojekte, die er im Laufe seines Studiums als Autor und Regisseur realisierte, wurden auf internationalen Filmfestivals präsentiert und mit Preisen ausgezeichnet. Parallel arbeitete er in verschiedenen Gewerken des Films, zuerst vor allem im Bereich Kamera und Beleuchtung, später als Produktions- und Regieassistent für namhafte Firmen wie XFilme, Studio Hamburg und Amalia Film. 2011 wurde er mit dem Hollywood-Stipendium des MedienCampus Bayern ausgezeichnet. Zurück in München arbeitete er drei Jahre als Senior Creative Producer und wirkte in verschiedenen Disziplinen an zahlreichen Imagefilmen und TV-Dokumentationen für ARD, ZDF und ARTE mit. Für sein erstes dokumentarisches Langfilmprojekt „Südstadthelden“, das auf Festivals ein weltweites Publikum begeistern konnte, erhielt er 2022 den Preis für die beste Regie auf dem Guko International Kids Film Festival in Seoul, Südkorea.
Martin ist international als Kameramann, Filmeditor, Regisseur und Autor tätig und gestaltet Dokumentarfilme, Spielfilme, Werbefilme und Musikvideos.
Martin Kießling was born in Franconia in 1985. After graduating from high school and his civil service, he completed several internships in TV and film productions as well as an apprenticeship as a audiovisual media designer. This was followed by studies at the Faculty of Design at the Georg Simon Ohm University of Nuremberg with a focus on Film & Animation, which he successfully finished in 2014. Short films that he realized as a writer and director during his studies were presented and awarded prizes at international film festivals. In parallel he worked in various film departments, primarily in the departments of camera and lighting, later as production and director’s assistant for well-known companies like XFilme, Studio Hamburg and Amalia Film. In 2011 he was awarded the Hollywood Scholarship by the MedienCampus Bayern. Back in Munich, he worked for three years as a senior creative producer and was involved in various disciplines on numerous image films and TV documentaries for ARD, ZDF and ARTE. In 2022, he received the Best Director Award at the Guko International Kids Film Festival in Seoul, South Korea, for his first documentary feature film project „Südstadthelden“, which was able to inspire audiences around the world at film festivals.
Martin works internationally as a cameraman, film editor, director and author and designs documentaries, feature films, commercials and music videos.
